Wasting time
“If you’re killing time, you’re murdering opportunity.”
Gary Gulman
This is a great way to describe what we are truly doing if we are wasting time.*
I don’t believe you can consume too much media (TV, social, movies, books, etc . . . ). I believe you can waste it but if you are doing it the right way, watching or reading those things is not a waste. It could be the catalyst for what you need to grow and mature into the storyteller and creator you’re meant to become.
As one of my favorite current comedians, Gary Gulman, once said, “Winning a hand of solitaire will never feel as good as finding an ending for a joke.”
You can consume things but make sure it is the right thing for each moment and make sure you are spending the extra time needed to think through what you should be getting out of each thing you consume.
TODAY or at some point over the next week, I want you to keep track of how you’re spending your time. Reduce and ruthlessly eliminate the time killer habits. You don’t necessarily need to stop doing certain things but maybe you need a fresh perspective as to why you’re doing those things.
I hope you find yourself encouraged by this little exercise, not because you’ll get the results you want but because hopefully, it’ll make you embrace who you need to become.
